Requiem for a Dream

Don't remember when i watched this movie but it's Christmas and pretty much all the days are blurring into the next. But what I do remember is that this movie is so awesome. It basically evolves around addiction and how different addictions affect the lives of four individuals. This is done very graphically and even though it's not a recent movie it sure is brilliant. Am sure most people have been unfortunate to know someone who has fallen victim to some sort of addiction, be it drugs, alcohol, gambling or even shopping it sure can DESTROY lives.

I really don't like to spoil movies for people so if you don't want anymore info on this movie TURN AWAY NOW...STOP READING...i bet u are still reading but you know curiosity killed the CAT knocked it down FLAT. I digress so easily. Well, the thing that really surprised me was becoming addicted to DIET PILLS. Yes, diet pills. The woman started to take pills to avoid eating.....you know eating what you do to SURVIVE. Pink pill, purple pill, blue pill, and the knock you out GREEN pill to send you to sleep but for days at a time you wouldn't EAT a bite. WTH.....it happens people actually do this!!!! But the thing that surprised me the most was that these pills are in fact Uppers which are in fact SPEED....LSD. Who knew....I sure as hell didn't know that this is what is prescribed to people to make them stop eating to lose wait and apparently a tell tale sign is GRINDING teeth. Well I was officially enlightened.

On the otherhand if you have been fortunate enough to have not witnessed people addicted to drugs and losing everything and becoming nothing but skin and bone, homeless and turning to prostitution to support an addiction than this movie will show you a different side of life.

It's like 4:20am I must sleep. Recommendation don't do DRUGS!!!!

Mizu no Kotoba: Aquatic Language

This anime is totally cool but it's also very complex and philosophical. If you have 9 minutes to spare click play at the bottom of this post. The clip is in Japanese with English subbed as I can't stand dubbed anime. SORRY!!!!!

The anime is set in a cafe and is based around different peoples conversations. One guy has just broken up with his girlfriend and is talking to the barista (does this mean i drink at Starbucks to much). Two girls are gossiping (what's new) and two dudes are having a bizarre conversation that makes you think is this guy taking drugs. After this anime ends it will leave you thinking. If you watch this clip leave a comment as I can't say anymore without spoiling IT for you.

After you watch it you will think OMG she is a total GEEK but I can handle IT :)

Hoodie Terrorism

I decided to stretch my legs today and ended up going into the supermarket to buy some sweets for my old sweet tooth. It wasn't the warmest of days so I was wearing my hoodie and I had the hood up. I walked round the supermarket and picked up my delectable Haribo's and proceeded to the check out. At this time I had my hands free kit on talking to my cousin when I heard the security guard say "take your hood off" I looked at him in contempt and replied "WHAT FOR!!!"

I thought nothing of it BUT then some next security looking guy said "can you remove your hood. It's for security purposes and there is a sign on the front when you walk in the shop." I reluctantly removed my hood BUT I must admit I was outraged. I'm still pretty annoyed that I had to remove my hood. How long before some other outrageous policy is imposed eroding my civil liberties one by one. It's only a matter of time before I won't be allowed to use foul language in public. God save us All!!!!

Death Rattle

I've often wondered about this expression "the eyes are the window to the soul" but yesterday I think this became apparent. I decided to visit my cousin on his deathbed which was my first encounter with death. As I travelled to his girlfriend's house I thought about what I wanted to say and I had expectations that he would say a few words in exchange.

Well, this was not to be. Time was not on our side and unfortunately the time for talking had past. I walked into the bedroom where he lay on the bed gasping for air and all I could see was his eyes. His empty eyes. He seemed as though he was asleep but his eyes were wide open. His eyes were glazing over and he struggled to cough. His breath was short and he struggled to cough up the phlegm that was building up on his chest. I felt the warm tears run down my face.

My mom asked us to hold hands and say the lords prayer. I cried. I kissed him goodbye. By the time I returned home he went to the eternal sleep.

I think I must be getting old. I wonder who are the Pussycat Dolls fans. What age group makes up their fan base. I don't buy their music BUT it really is catchy. They sure are a sexy bunch of girls Nicole, Ashley, Jessica, Melody and Kimberly with their raunchy dance routines and kinky song lyrics.

I know celebrities aren't role models BUT we all know when your young and impressionable for some reason you're drawn to these celebrities like moths to the flames. You can all moan and say role models start at home but in my opinion that is BULLSHIT. No matter who you are at some point you thought some celebrity was the DOGS BOLLOCKS.

That said. Here is my point these over-sexualised bimbos gyrating their hips are being marketed to young girls worldwide. We all know SEX sells but hasn't anyone got a conscience anymore. Where the Hell is Jimney Cricket looks like the poor son of a biTch was sold to the devil in exchange for a record deal. Just listen to the song lyrics.

Cancer

This Christmas is really taking a turn for the worst. Yesterday was the suicide call. This morning I was dreaming that I was in a photo shoot. I was modelling for some random guy who was happily snapping away before commenting on my body hair. I pointed out that I had been lazy lately and then the conversation moved onto whether I preferred men with body hair.

You understand that I was having a pretty odd dream. Then, I heard the phone ringing in the distance. Drifting in and out of sleep I eventually began to realise that my mom had received another DEATH call. Her cousin's girlfriend called to tell her that he has taken a turn for the worse and the hospital has stopped the treatment.

Her cousin has bone cancer. I heard the door close. I jumped out of bed and ran outside shouting to my mom. She came back to the house and confirmed that he hasn't got long left. I wanted to go but am emotional at the best of times so I told her to phone her sister.

I wait. I wait. She comes back and confirms that he might not last til Christmas. It gets worse. His death marks the end to his life and the end to his family. His brother died a few years back. His father died two years ago and his mom has alzheimers. I say she is like the living dead because she is not who she was since the diagnosis and now her whole family will be gone and she won't be none the wiser.

This Christmas sure is melancholy.

Suicide

The phone rings, I pick up but I don't recognise the hesitant voice on the end of the line. He asks to speak to my mom claiming to be a friend of an old friend. I can tell from his voice that he is the bearer of bad news.

After she puts down the receiver she looks so sad. The man had found her telephone number in an old address book of someone who had committed suicide. The girl was just a year older than me and left two children behind. My mom used to work with children in care and this woman who is about too be cremated on Monday was someone she took care of almost 16 years ago. The last time she had heard from the girl was over 7 years ago after the birth of her second child.

They say that this time of year has the highest suicide rate. Christmas can be lonely I guess if you're feeling down or you're not close to your family or you have no family or no one I guess the feeling of loneliness can become amplified at this time of year.

How awkward was it too have to make that telephone call. To have to go through that address book. I guess sometimes there aren't enough words to express sorrow. The sadness in silence.

Aliens

I would like to bring to your attention that there are aliens living amongst us. Yes yes......you didn't believe it.....you thought they would invade in huge alien ships BUT you're so wrong....they invaded us and live alongside us in the gardens, in the jungle, in the trees....here, there and everywhere!!!!

Lets just pray they don't grow any bigger or we will become the prey....lets hope some stupid scientist doesn't decide to experiment on them and accelerate their growth like what they did by cross breeding tigers with lions. Yes that monstrosity that is known as a Liger apparently it is missing some sort of chromosome or gene...whatever that limits its growth. Personally, I think this creature is an abomination as clearly Lions and Tigers don't breed together in the wild and only a stupid scientist would do this cross breeding. Ok ok......i digress BUT imagine if the scientists decide to experiment with the insects and allow them to grow BIGGER...well then kiss humanity ByE BYe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Life is Yellow

I guess yellow is the colour of today as am feeling under the weather.....whenever I feel sick this is the colour that comes too mind. I also wish the sun was shining yellow today BUT i would be so lucky. It's so cold here....absolutely freezing...glad to be indoors that's for sure. Never underestimate the warmth of the blanket.....cup of tea....oh yeahhhh am definitely feeling yellow.

Aren't they just magnificent little insects......simple lifestyle.....I envy them!!!! True example of unity....ants living harmoniously together....building nest, capturing prey....protect the queen, produce progeny....beautiful.

MANGA is OBSCENE

I was just looking at a manga group when suddenly I had to rub my eyes in amazement….MAN facing 20 years imprisonment for possession of Manga deemed as OBSCENE material!!!!!!!!!!

I read the article and was still GOBSMACKED so I typed it in the old Google and my eyes did not deceive me. Apparently he ordered some MANGA from Japan and had his post randomly inspected by the authorities who deemed his choice of reading material OBSCENE. Consequently, they allegedly followed him home and found that he had quite a collection of MANGA and subsequently charged with possessing obscene material. The material in question supposedly contained lolicon and yaio images….wtf are those you might ask…hmmmm….well I had to educate myself and discovered that Lolicon focuses on the Lolita complex…. whereas yaoi features male homosexual romance. This guy is from Iowa in the United States and you might be thinking hasn’t he got the right to read whatever he likes….surely freedom of press…hmmmmm….WRONG cuz the laws concerning obscenity override the free speech laws.

It gets worse…..yes…..WORSE…. if he is found guilty he will be deemed a sex offender. Now, I understand trying to protect children from abuse BUT surely condemning ART to stringent laws is going to prove TROUBLESOME to everyone. Even though the case is in United States and it concerns a Japanese art form nevertheless the verdict in this case will have far reaching implications. I watch anime and read MANGA everyday online….walk with ME…if… I don’t know…. say my computer was ever checked by the police for whatever reason. Does this mean I could also stand accused of possessing obscene material and quite frankly be labelled a paedo. After typing this word paedo it really does sound absurd and am sure this guy would've thought the same thing… if someone had said by the way if you order those MANGA from Japan you might as well sign the sex offenders list…GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

I am really interested in the outcome of this case....art is being tried in a court of law and a jury is to decide if the MANGA this guy purchased is obscene material. Well, I haven't seen the MANGA this guy decided to buy BUT to be honest I don't care. When it comes to ART everyone has their own personal taste....does this mean that we will have to censor material from the past….portraits from years ago that grace the walls of museums and art galleries all over the world will these need to be reassessed to see if they contain OBSCENE material. Will old movies such as Bugsy Malone portraying children as adults now be BANNED….will music videos and TV commercials showing children in what could appear sexually provocative material be labelled OBSCENE. I doubt I understand what pissing paedo consider erotic behaviour from prepubescent children because am NOT a pissing paedo and CHILDREN and SEX don’t mix together in my world. I really would like to see the MANGA this guy was reading to determine how this conclusion was made.
But…this truly is a cloudy area and I think yes we must protect the children….BUT we must also protect the ART.

Mushishi

I watched another anime today...well, I was meant to watch an anime movie, Metropolis but i only found a Japanese version with NO subs and I'm not that great at Japanese yet to NOT need the subs.....so then I decided to start watching Mushishi and I'm sure glad I did.

I only watched 6 episodes BUT from what I've seen I'm like so intrigued and can't wait to watch the rest. It's such a beautiful anime and a totally creative idea about Mushi being responsible for paranormal activity and all life forms in purest form being Mushi....hmmmm....did i describe it right who knows....it's like nearly 2:30am!!!

I can't wait to watch some more tomorrow....such a relaxing anime.....everything about it is so serene even the soundtrack which is so tranquil....don't worry though it's interesting enough to keep you awake.

Why are Little Girls Obessed with Brats & Hannah Montana!!??>!!!

Just why are all these little girls obsessed with the Brats and Hannah Montana? Hmmmm....can someone please enlighten ME. Today, my little cousin turned 6 and she had her Brats Birthday cake and everything is Hannah flippin Montana from the advent calendar to the slippers and even the DS game. I guess its a kiddie thing, although, I don't remember being into such girly stuff like these.....I watched PoB, Button Moon...FRaggle Rock and Rainbow....but I don't remember watching some bimbo style girls wearing way too much make up.....why do I hate these Brats so much.....I haven't been fortunate or unfortunate enough to watch Hannah Montana.....may GOD save me from such HORROR....lord knows I couldn't bear it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I had a good time.... my auntie had some fancy music system with a mic and mixer and it wasn't long before my mom decided she was DJ.....pharking HILARIOUS. My auntie from London Town was there and that totally took me by surprise as we don't see her that often.....she's jet setting to New Zealand for the old crimbo....lucky for some!!!! I digress so easily...so my mom is on the microphone...bigging up everyone ...Blind as a BAT ...she can't read the tracks on the CD....then she is getting the artists name wrong...LOL.

Then, due to the old height problem....she can't even see the mixer probably she decides to elevate herself by standing on the chair....dancing away,,,,thankfully she didn't fall off. By this time I'm so hungry as main reason for going was the FOOD....so i chant "where is da FOOD"....me granny sympathises with me and decides to grab the mic and ask for the FOOD in STEREO....all in all pretty good day!!!

Except I didn't get any of the birthday cake.....probably for the best as couldn't bare to digest those bloody brats on the icing...hahahahaa

Cocaine: Talk 2 Frank

Is it just me or is this TV anti drug campaign disturbing....cocaine has been snorted up people's nose since i dunno....since someone realised they could get high by snorting this substance up their nose. I appreciate its an anti drug campaign but nonetheless i don't see why it needs to be advertised. There are some things that advertising won't change....when i first saw this advert i was like why the fuck has this dog got a huge scar in its chest...then PABLO the drug mule told me a story about how he was used to traffic drugs!!!!!

Now, i don't see how this advert is going to stop people snorting cocaine, selling it or trafficking it. Just like sticking labels on cigarettes saying SMOKING KILLS or putting images of black lungs, rotten teeth or gums doesn't stop people from lighting up. So....I don't know about you BUT i certainly don't see the point of these advertisements and would much prefer not seeing IT.

Yes yes i know drugs aren't good and i certainly didn't need to see an advertisement starring a talking dog to not snort da co-can-ya!!!!!!!!!!!!

Le Portrait de Petit Cossette

I watched this creepy anime Le Portrait de Petite Cossette.....so some dude manages to find a girl....sounds normal right...hmmmm. WRONG...Its far from it because the girl is dead and he found her in an antique glass and he manages to fall in love with her and lets her torture him in the cruelest way. Totally CRAZY but yet it was still worth watching and there was much more blood in it than the movie i watched after!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There Will Be NO BlooD

I decided to watch something other than anime....There Will Be Blood....well there was a real lack of the stuff....no blood just oil......i was expecting more from this movie....starring Daniel Day Lewis I thought...hey.....this is going to be an awesome flick....I watched Last of the Mohicans.....Gangs of New York....yeahhhhhhh i thought this is gonna be a masterpiece.......

noooo.....it wasn't it just dragged on and on....some might say brilliant cinematography....or blah blah blah....it did have some good bits though and no doubting that man can ACT....but overall i felt that it would have been better if it didn't take so long too finish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cat Soup

I watched this anime yesterday and it was totally awesome!!! This is what I thought it was about.....it seemed to be about a cat trying to find his sisters soul. But the animation is almost silent and the story is displayed in a surreal way almost appearing like a Dali painting in motion. It is only 30 minutes long but it is such a beautiful piece of animation and definitely worth a watch if you like anime or if you are an arty kinda person!!!!

I would say its like being inside the cats dream and one of my favourite scenes involves the cats swimming in like an elephant made of water in the desert. Due to the heat of the desert the elephant keeps evaporating and the cats keeps digging a hole to find more water.
